We have more fall workdays for one reason: to collect seed. That is the main focus of workdays in September, October, and November. We'll need lots of seed for the new areas we'll be managing. We'll continue looking for and pulling weeds, like bittersweet nightshade, and we'll probably also need to do some work in the marsh. Spreading wood chips and mulch as necessary, and brush cutting could also be on the agenda.

Dress for the weather - we work rain or shine. Dress in layers, as it can be cold and windy at one moment and then calm and sunny at another.

Long pants are just about a requirement to work inside the Sanctuary, and even if it happens to be warm or hot, long sleeves are highly recommended. Sandals and open toed shoes are NEVER a good idea; boots are a better choice. High topped rubber boots are necessary for those planning to work in or around the marsh. Hats are also recommended. We provide tools and work gloves.
